Peacock Bass

One of the most exciting of them is the Peacock Bass. If you like bass fishing, you will love fishing for peacock bass. This fish will hit a lure or bait harder than any large mouth Bass. And a peacock bass, pound for pound, will fight about 3 times harder than a large mouth. The peacock bass shares the waters here with large mouth bass and it is common to see some peacock bass and large mouth bass swimming and schooling together. You may catch a peacock bass one cast and a large mouth bass on the next.

The peacock has a cousin call the Oscar. Everyone just loves to catch them especially on a flyrod. A one pound Oscar will fight like a 5 lb large mouth bass. When the water levels are low in South Florida, some of the deep canals will just become filled with these fish and many others. It's not uncommon to catch over 7 different species of fresh water fish and land over 100 fish total on a half day charter.
